TEAM-BUILDING INITIATIVES

The Southern Highlands is a great place to be at any time of the year, and there’s a slew of activities your group can take part in - at the Gibraltar Hotel or close by - regardless of season. We know only too well how important it is for your group to be engaged and stimulated. On the pages that follow we’ve highlighted some of the interesting and exciting activities available on-site at Gibraltar and beyond.

Active pursuits

Bushwalking. Take your group on a relaxing guided bushwalk to nearby Gibbergunyah Reserve. As you stroll along the shady tracks or rest on a rocky outcrop, you might even spot a kangaroo, wombat or echidna.

Clay pigeon shooting. Treat your group to laser clay pigeon shooting at Gibraltar with Thunderbird Events. This is a very competitive and popular activity.

Cycling. The Southern Highlands is a cycling paradise; there’s no better way to explore the picturesque surrounds, stay fit and work up an appetite than by bike. Check out the single-track loop at nearby Welby or take a leisurely ride along the 9km riverside bike path from Moss Vale to Burradoo. Bike hire at Reception.

Golf. Our par 69 golf course, measuring 5054m, has a 66 rating and is one of the most beautiful courses in the region. Your coordinator can arrange golf for your group and will have you teeing off in no time.

Tenpin bowling. We can arrange group bowling for you at nearby Highlands Tenpin in Mittagong.

Staying in

A night at the races. After studying the form guide, delegates will receive money to punt on each race. Once all the bets are placed, the races will be viewed by the cheering crowd on the big screen.

Casino night. Teams will be competing to generate as much money as possible throughout the evening meal via a series of interactive challenges.

Corporate drumming. A corporate drumming session will motivate and inspire your delegates, both as individuals and as a collective group. Surprised delegates take their seats to discover a drum in front of them and, over the next 45 minutes, the experts from Pinnacle Team Events take them on an unforgettable musical journey.

CSI night. Delegates must carefully inspect the crime scene complete with victim, weapons, clues and police tape. Delegates then prepare a re-enactment of the crime to portray their version of events.

Games night. Teams will compete in a range of challenge activities against rival table groups, conducted between courses and after dessert. Activities include shock reaction, newspaper dress up, barrel of monkeys, and much more.

Magician. Dazzle your delegates with a magic show that will leave them startled. The comedy magic show is a stand-up routine, lasting approximately 45 minutes. There’ll be hand magic, comedy gags, audience participation, and non-stop laughter and entertainment galore.

Trivia challenge night. Fancy the idea of a trivia night like no other? This evening combines activities with unique general knowledge questions, music trivia and tv soundtracks.

Exploring

Illawarra Fly treetop walk. Take in the views over the canopy to the Pacific Ocean, as you stroll along a remarkable 1.5km steel walkway. The Fly is a 30-minute scenic drive from Gibraltar. www.illawarrafly.com

International Cricket Hall of Fame. Take the group on a guided tour of the acclaimed Bradman Museum, with its five galleries and two theatres, and learn all about Sir Don, the Boy from Bowral. The Museum is just minutes from the heart of Bowral.

Open gardens. Throughout the year, for a small fee, magnificent gardens open their gates to visitors. You’re sure to come away brimming with ideas and inspiration for your garden back home. Ask reception for a list of gardens that are open for inspection.

Wine tours. Have your group picked up from Gibraltar Hotel for wine tasting at three local wineries with lunch at the second winery. You can add a stop-off at the historic township of Berrima and/or the Bradman Museum in Bowral.
